These terms are a contract between you and Softwaller Technologies Private Limited ("Softwaller", "we", "us"), registered at 3-15/8, Singandi Lakshmana Mudhali Street, Tharamangalam, Salem, Tamil Nadu – 636 502, India (CIN: U62099TN2024PTC172175). Please read them carefully.
1. Acceptance
By downloading, installing, or using the CostWise app (package com.costwise.app), you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
2. Eligibility
You can use CostWise if:
- You are at least 13 years old.
- You have the legal capacity to enter into a contract under Indian law. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must accept these terms on your behalf.
- You are using the app primarily from India. We will expand to more countries later.
3. Your Account
- A CostWise account is optional for the Free tier — you can use the app fully offline without signing in.
- A CostWise account is required for the Premium tier so that we can sync your data across devices and verify your subscription.
- You are responsible for keeping your password and device secure. Tell us at apps@softwaller.com if you suspect someone else is using your account.
- You agree that the information you give us (such as your email) is accurate and up to date.
4. Free vs Premium Tiers
Free — "Bachat Plan"
CostWise Free is and will remain free. It includes manual expense entry, up to 3 family members, default categories, daily and weekly reports for the recent past, basic UPI QR scanning (limited per day), PIN lock, and local backup. Free users may see ads.
Premium — "Parivar Plan"
Premium unlocks unlimited family members, unlimited QR scans, OCR receipt scanning, voice expense entry, full historical reports, GST tracking, budget alerts, subscription tracker, cloud sync across devices, biometric lock, PDF/Excel export, and an ad-free experience. The full feature list is shown in the app and on our website.
5. Subscriptions and Billing
- Premium is sold only through Google Play Billing at ₹149/month or ₹999/year (prices may change with notice).
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before renewal.
- You can cancel any time from your Google Play account: Play Store → Subscriptions → CostWise → Cancel.
- Refunds are handled by Google according to the Google Play refund policy. Softwaller cannot directly process refunds for Play purchases.
- We never see or store your card or UPI details. Google handles all payment information.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree NOT to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except as permitted by law.
- Install or distribute modified ("MOD") versions of CostWise, or use unofficial APKs.
- Use the app for anything illegal, fraudulent, or harmful.
- Run automated scripts, bots, or scrapers against the app or our backend.
- Try to bypass App Check, security rules, or rate limits.
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute the app.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules.
7. Your Content
- The expenses, persons, categories, photos, and notes you enter are yours. Softwaller does not claim ownership of them.
- We will never sell, share, or use your content for advertising. See the Privacy Policy.
- You grant us a limited, royalty-free licence to store, sync, back up, and display your content only so that we can provide the app to you. This licence ends when you delete your data or close your account.
8. Intellectual Property
The CostWise name, logo, app design, source code, screenshots, and marketing material are owned by Softwaller Technologies Private Limited and are protected by Indian and international copyright and trademark law. You may not use them without our written permission.
CostWise uses open-source software. Where required by their licences, attribution is shown inside the app under Settings → About → Open Source Licences.
9. Disclaimer
CostWise is provided "as is" and "as available". We do our best to keep it accurate and reliable, but:
- CostWise is a personal expense tracking tool. It is not financial, tax, accounting, or investment advice.
- The GST features are intended to help you organise your expenses. They are not a substitute for a chartered accountant or for filing GST returns. Always verify with a professional.
- We do not guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet every expectation.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Indian law:
- Softwaller’s total liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to CostWise is capped at the amount you actually paid us in subscription fees during the 12 months before the claim. For Free users, this amount is zero.
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, loss of profits, or business interruption — even if we were told such damages were possible.
Nothing in this section limits any liability that cannot be excluded under Indian consumer protection law.
11. Termination
- You can stop using CostWise at any time by uninstalling the app or by emailing us to delete your account.
- We can suspend or terminate your access if you break these terms, abuse the service, or if we are required to by law. Where reasonable, we will give you notice and a chance to fix the problem first.
- On termination, your right to use the app ends immediately. Sections that should naturally survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, liability limits, governing law) will continue to apply.
12. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Salem, Tamil Nadu have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to CostWise or these terms.
13. Dispute Resolution
If you have a complaint, please email apps@softwaller.com first — most issues can be resolved quickly and informally.
If we cannot resolve a dispute within 30 days, both sides agree to refer it to arbitration under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996. The arbitration will be conducted by a sole arbitrator, in English, in Salem, Tamil Nadu.
This clause does not stop you from approaching a Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you inside the app and, for Premium users, by email, at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of CostWise after the change means you accept the new terms.
15. Contact
For any question about these terms, email apps@softwaller.com.
